“Bookstagram” – and how to do it

#Bookstagram is a phenomenon on Instagram, where booklovers and bibliophiles share their love of photographing beautiful books as well as teacups, typewriters and reading in said books , amongst other things.

Bookstagram is…?

Bookstagram is basically, as far as I can tell, descriptive of an Instagram account, that primarily posts pictures of, with or about books or ‘bookish’ things. Usually these pictures involve a cup containing a hot beverage, or just a beverage in general, as well as the following things;

  • Flowers, doesn’t matter if they’re real or plastic, as long as they are pretty
  • Funkopops (some sort of figurines, portraying fictional characters from books, movies, plays etc.)
  • Books, of course, the more the better, sometimes
  • Notes with quotes on it
  • Maybe a computer or a blanket

This is obviously a generalization, that doesn’t offer credit to how inspiring this phenomenon really is.

So far, I have only just begun to understand some of the bookstagram slang and codes of conduct, but it seems like a solid, good and inspiring internet community, and I am excited to see what kind of books and literature I will be exposed to – it is a great way to find inspiration for new books to read!

    Ha, you’re hitting the nail on its head. Everything flat lay, and don’t forget the cups of coffee! But I agree, I too very much enjoy it, in general as well as for inspiration. It’s good to see people are still reading!

      Haha, yeah thank you! I’m just really impressed and slightly intimidated by it all, it seems as though there is some sort of science to it xD

      And yes, people reading books is the best sight, very inspiring on its own even! 🙂 Thank you for taking the time to read 🙂

Tell me what you think! :D
